About Us
The Maryland-DC Society of Addiction Medicine (MDDCSAM or MD-DCSAM) is the Maryland state chapter of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) whose mission and vision we share, and whose members are physicians and others who prevent, treat, and promote remission and recovery from the disease of addiction.
Chapter Membership
The Maryland Chapter received its Charter from ASAM National in May 1998 and merged with the District of Columbia chapter as the MD-DC Chapter in 2018. We host informal social meet & greet events several times a year, and a popular in-person annual educational meeting where networking is facilitated among those with shared interests and/or geography. In some years we may hold additional educational meetings virtually. Chapter membership is included in a paid ASAM membership for physicians and others.
Board of Directors
Virtual Board meetings are typically on alternating months, and any MDDCSAM member is encouraged to ask to attend one or more Board meetings. We also encourage MDDCSAM members to consider applying to become a voting member of the Board of Directors, a committee member, chair or co-chair, and/or a chapter officer.
